Nashville's riverfront was a bustling center of commerce in the late 1800s with riverboat after riverboat lined up along the banks waiting for cargo to loaded and unloaded. In this image is the steamboat H.W. Buttorff, named after a very prominent Nashville businessman of the era who among his many positions was president of the Ryman Steamboat Company.
